Since the Shipping Deputy Ministry's establishment 5 years ago, significant progress has been made, further enhancing the Cyprus flag.
The National Strategy “SEA Change 2030”, which includes 35 sustainable actions with an implementation schedule aiming to make Shipping resistant to crises and competitive, with Cyprus to take a lead role on the International Shipping scene, has moved forward with 23 of the 35 actions already having been implemented.
The digitalisation of all the services of the Deputy Ministry is in progress. By the beginning of 2024 all the services of the Deputy Ministry will be provided digitally. Within the next few days, the application for mobile phones (MobileApp) of the Deputy Ministry “CYSh1P” will be available with the digital services being accessible to all users.
The Shipping community continues to grow. An increasing number of Shipping companies have elected to come under the Special Tax System governing Cyprus Shipping. Over the last 10 years, these companies have more than tripled.
The Deputy Ministry aims to keep responding to crises. Useful guidance, recommendations and clarifications have been provided to the Shipping Industry in response to the Pandemic and more recently the implementation of Sanctions. Furthermore, the Deputy Ministry has been constructive in the negotiation of the ongoing sanctions packages proposed by the European Commission.
