The office was founded by Michael Papadopoulos, an Advocate of the Supreme Court of Cyprus, who first set about practising in commercial litigation and admiralty before concentrating in commercial and shipping transactional work.

​
Michael is qualified in Cyprus as an ​Advocate (1998), and obtained a ​LLM in Maritime Law from University College London and a ​LLB Hons from Oxford Brookes University (2:1).
​
Michael has practised law for twenty-five years, largely focusing on shipping, both contentious (Admiralty) and non-contentious, and commercial law, including property law.
​
He has extensive experience in Ship Sale and Purchase, Ship Registration, New Building contracts, Financing and Lease Financing of all types of vessels, including containers, bulk carriers, offshore vessels, cruise ships, and mega yachts, and multi-jurisdictional transactional work.
​
He is experienced with large developments such as marinas and the hotel and leisure industries, and regularly advises on all legal matters relating to such matters. ​
​
He founded Michael Papadopoulos LLC, a boutique law office, after being a ​partner in one of the island's largest firms.
Michael has also been a Tutor of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers - Cyprus Branch, is an Overseas member of the London Shipping Law Centre, and an Associate Member of the International Compliance Association (ICA).
